Your Website Needs A Call To Action

What do you want people to do when they visit your site?

You may want to make a sale. You may want to generate a lead for your offline business. You may want to gain a subscriber to your newsletter. Regardless of what kind of business you own, you need to have a clear call to action.

A call to action is basically you telling your customer “do this now”. You don’t want them to “think about it” because people have a tendency to “think about it” forever. You’ve gone through a lot of trouble and expense getting potential customers to your site, but traffic alone doesn’t pay the bills.  You need to transform those “potential customers” into paying clients.  There’s a reason car dealers want you to take that test drive and why, once you have, they don’t want you to leave the lot to “talk it over”.  They know you won’t be back.  Now, your call to action doesn’t have to be the stereotypical “used car salesman” pushy, but it does need to be there.

There are any number of ways you can make a call to action. The specific types would take too long to list here but may be the topic of a future blog post. Just remember your site must have a call to action or your visitors won’t know what to do.
