Great Example Of Viral Marketing
Written by George Manty · January 13, 2010
My wife Jill showed this to me this evening and I had to share it with you.
Call the Nestle Crunch Hotline at 1-800-295-0051. When you are asked if you want to continue in English or Spanish, wait quietly for about 10 seconds and you will smile. Promise! Keep going and press 4. Listen to the options…then press 7. If you comment on this after listening, don’t give away the surprise. I promise you will be laughing.
This is a great example of viral marketing. How can you get people to talk about your brand the way people are going to talk about this?

I am wondering if this is going to feed its own destruction. I tried for two hours to get through on this number with only busy signals.
It would take quite a joke or surprise to get me to laugh now.
I have given up.
But, I’m sure whatever it was, it had to be worth while.
However, is just the “promise” of a laugh held in a container of mystery enough to motivate people throughout the world to participate.
Perhaps so.
So, for that bit of wisdom, the two hours was probably worth it.
It must be great. I tried calling for 1/2 hour and it just rang busy. I’ll try again later
I had a good laugh, reminds me of being back in school. I got through the first time I called, It was 2:30 AM eastern time. I can’t wait to put this on speaker phone for my kids and others!
Thanks
